Old oven peach cobbler

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Mix well and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk until just combined.
  4. Pour the melted butter into the prepared baking dish. Pour the batter over the melted butter but do not stir.
  5. Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
  7. Let the cobbler cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
