Mongolian Ground Beef

  1. Ingredients:
    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
    • 1/2 cup soy sauce
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
    • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
    • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
    • Cooked rice, for serving
    • Sesame seeds, for garnish
    1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
    2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
    3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
    4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and cornstarch until well combined.
    5. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the ground beef and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
    6. Stir in the sliced green onions and red pepper flakes, if using.
    7. Serve the Mongolian ground beef over cooked rice and garnish with sesame seeds.
