Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- Additional sliced onions (optional, for gravy)
Directions:
- In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into 4-6 oval patties.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side or until browned and cooked to desired doneness.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add additional sliced onions if using, and sauté until soft.
- Pour beef broth into the skillet, bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the cornstarch mixture and continue to cook, stirring, until the gravy thickens.
- Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet and simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Serve the hamburger steaks covered with the onion gravy.
