These Easy Bacon Brown Sugar Chicken Tenders are the perfect sweet and savory dinner. Juicy chicken tenders are wrapped in smoky bacon, coated with a brown sugar seasoning mix, and baked until the bacon is crispy and the chicken is tender. The caramelized brown sugar creates a delicious sticky-sweet crust that pairs perfectly with the salty bacon.
Serve them with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, a fresh salad, ranch, or BBQ sauce for dipping.
Ingredients
- 1.25 lbs chicken tenders (about 8–10 pieces)
- 8–10 slices bacon (thin or regular cut)
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
Optional
- Pinch of cayenne pepper for heat
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Place a wire rack on top and lightly grease it. This helps the bacon crisp evenly.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Pat the chicken tenders dry with paper towels. Lightly brush or rub each tender with olive oil or melted butter.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar seasoning mixture evenly over all sides of the chicken tenders.
- Wrap each chicken tender with one slice of bacon, slightly overlapping the ends. Secure with a toothpick if needed, especially when using thicker bacon.
- Place the bacon-wrapped chicken tenders on the prepared wire rack, seam-side down.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, until the bacon is crispy and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- For extra caramelization, broil for the final 1–2 minutes while watching closely.
- Remove toothpicks, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve hot.
Tips & Variations
- High-protein meal: These chicken tenders are packed with protein. Serve with roasted broccoli or a large salad for a balanced dinner.
- Make it spicy: Add ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper or chipotle powder to the brown sugar mix, or drizzle with hot honey before serving.
- Air fryer version: Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway through. No wire rack needed.
- Meal prep: Wrap the chicken tenders with bacon and store them uncooked in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
- Leftovers: Reheat in the air fryer or oven at 350°F (175°C) to bring back the crispiness. Avoid microwaving, as it can make the bacon soft.
