Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Ingredients:

For the Rolls:

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the Cinnamon Honey Butter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, active dry yeast, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of flour and the remaining sugar. Add the yeast mixture, egg, melted butter, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, you can use a stand mixer with a dough hook.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into 12-16 squares or rectangles.
  6. Place the dough pieces on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover them with a kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes, or until puffy.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. While the rolls are baking, prepare the cinnamon honey butter. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, powdered sugar, honey, and ground cinnamon. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  9. Remove the rolls from the oven and brush them with melted butter. Serve warm with the cinnamon honey butter.
