Ingredients:
For the Rolls:
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
For the Cinnamon Honey Butter:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, active dry yeast, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of flour and the remaining sugar. Add the yeast mixture, egg, melted butter, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, you can use a stand mixer with a dough hook.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into 12-16 squares or rectangles.
- Place the dough pieces on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover them with a kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes, or until puffy.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the cinnamon honey butter. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, powdered sugar, honey, and ground cinnamon. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Remove the rolls from the oven and brush them with melted butter. Serve warm with the cinnamon honey butter.
