- Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cloves, crushed
- Optional: a few drops of liquid smoke for added depth
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar.
- Reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes or until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- Strain the sauce through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any solids.
- Pour the strained sauce into a clean bottle or jar and refrigerate. The flavor will continue to develop over time.
