Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, sauté the bell pepper, onion, mushrooms, and garlic over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, milk, salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and beaten egg. Mix until just combined.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes, then remove from oven and place the provolone cheese slices on top of the meatloaf.
  6. Return to oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
