- Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 to 4 tablespoons buttermilk
- Additional sugar for sprinkling
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients, adding just enough buttermilk to moisten the dough and make it soft, not wet.
- Drop rounded teaspoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Slightly flatten the dough with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on the cookie sheet for two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
