Million Dollar Baked Ziti

  1. Ingredients:
    • 1 pound ziti pasta
    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
    • 1 cup ricotta cheese
    • 1 cup sour cream
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
    • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
    1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
    2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
    3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.
    4. Add the marinara sauce to the skillet with the beef and simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    5. In a large bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, sour cream, and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese until well combined.
    6. In the prepared baking dish, spread half of the cooked ziti pasta. Top with the cheese mixture, then layer with the remaining pasta. Pour the meat sauce over the top.
    7. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and the grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
    8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
    9. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve warm.
