Homemade Marinara Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Directions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until onion is translucent and garlic is fragrant.
  2. Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
