Homemade Hamburger Peppers And Onion Gyros


  • 1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tsp Olive Oil
  • 1 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 cup chopped red pepper
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 can Rotel green chiles with diced tomatoes, your choice Hot or Mild
  • 4 Pita breads, softened and warmed slightly
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ bleu cheese crumbles

How To Make Homemade Hamburger Peppers And Onion Gyros

  1. Slightly warm the Pitas in the microwave
  2. In a skillet crumble the ground beef
  3. Add in the olive oil, green and red peppers, and the onion
  4. Cook until meat is no longer pink
  5. Continue until the peppers and the onions have softened
  6. Add in the can of Rotel and stir to mix in well
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste
  8. Layout four sheets of aluminum foil
  9. Place a pita on each
  10. Add roughly ¼ of the meat mix onto each pita
  11. Using the aluminum foil, roll up the foil and the gyro together
  12. Top with the sour cream and bleu cheese if desired.
