Ingredients
Banana Bread Batter
- 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
- 3 ripe bananas
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
Cream Cheese Filling
- 1 large egg
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray.
Prepare the Batter
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, milk, vanilla extract, egg, and egg yolk. Mix until well combined.
- In a separate small bowl, mash the bananas. Fold the mashed bananas into the wet mixture.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until everything is just combined. Do not overmix.
Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling
- In a small bowl, beat together the cream cheese, egg, sugar, and flour until smooth and creamy.
Assemble the Bread
- Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the batter.
- Pour the remaining banana bread batter on top.
- Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the top.
Bake
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove it and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve.
