Description
A classic meatloaf recipe that guarantees juicy perfection with a blend of ground beef, breadcrumbs, and flavorful seasonings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend for the best flavor)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably plain or Italian)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper (optional)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, chopped onion, and bell pepper if using.
- Add in the eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, thyme, and oregano.
- Mix everything together using your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the mixture.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf.
- Spread a layer of ketchup on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- If the top browns too much, cover it loosely with foil.
- Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
Notes
- Using 80/20 ground beef provides the best flavor and moisture.
- Letting the meatloaf rest before slicing helps retain its juiciness.
- Feel free to customize the seasonings to your taste.
