Description

Indulge in a creamy and flavorful crab bisque made with fresh crab meat and a blend of aromatic vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh crab meat (lump or claw)
  • 4 cups seafood stock or chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or chives for garnishing

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add in the diced onion, celery, and carrots. Sauté for about 5-6 minutes, or until the vegetables have softened.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the tomato paste and Old Bay seasoning, stirring everything together for about 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Add the seafood stock or chicken broth gently into the pot, stirring well to combine and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 10-15 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  5. If you prefer a creamy texture, use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth. You can also transfer it in batches to a blender if you don’t have one.
  6. Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Finally, add the fresh crab meat and Worcestershire sauce, simmering for an additional 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper as desired.
  7. Ladle the bisque into bowls, garnishing with freshly chopped parsley or chives. Enjoy your homemade crab bisque while it’s warm!

Notes

  • Use the freshest crab meat available for the best flavor.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of broth.
  • For a vegan alternative, substitute crab meat with a plant-based option.
