Strawberries & Cream French Toast Casserole: Delight!

A delicious and indulgent breakfast casserole featuring layers of French bread, cream cheese, fresh strawberries, and a rich custard, perfect for special occasions.

  • 1 loaf French bread cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries sliced
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 ½ cups milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup maple syrup or honey
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
  • Extra strawberries and whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread half the bread cubes in the bottom.
  2. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Drop spoonfuls over the bread layer.
  3. Sprinkle half of the strawberries on top.
  4. Add the remaining bread cubes and top with the rest of the strawberries.
  5. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, and maple syrup until combined. Pour evenly over the bread mixture.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, until golden and set in the middle.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream and extra strawberries.

Notes

  • For best results, prepare the casserole the night before and let it sit in the refrigerator.
  • Feel free to substitute other fruits like blueberries or raspberries.
  • This dish can be served warm or at room temperature.
