Description
Delicious slow-cooked pulled pork sliders, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 to 5 pounds pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite kind)
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 12 slider buns
- Coleslaw (for topping, optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the pork shoulder and pat it dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Rub the spice blend all over the pork, ensuring it gets into all the nooks and crannies.
- In the slow cooker, pour in the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth, and stir to combine.
- Place the seasoned pork shoulder into the slow cooker, making sure it’s nestled in the sauce.
- Cover the slow cooker and set it on low for 8 to 10 hours, or on high for 4 to 5 hours.
- Once done, carefully remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
- Shred the pork into bite-sized pieces using two forks.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining sauce, letting it soak for another 10 to 15 minutes on warm.
- Serve the pulled pork on slider buns, optionally topped with coleslaw.
Notes
- Low and slow cooking yields the best flavor.
- Feel free to adjust the spice levels according to your taste.
- Coleslaw adds a nice crunch and creaminess to the sliders.
