Description

Delicious slow-cooked pulled pork sliders, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 to 5 pounds pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite kind)
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 12 slider buns
  • Coleslaw (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the pork shoulder and pat it dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Rub the spice blend all over the pork, ensuring it gets into all the nooks and crannies.
  4. In the slow cooker, pour in the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth, and stir to combine.
  5. Place the seasoned pork shoulder into the slow cooker, making sure it’s nestled in the sauce.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and set it on low for 8 to 10 hours, or on high for 4 to 5 hours.
  7. Once done, carefully remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
  8. Shred the pork into bite-sized pieces using two forks.
  9. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining sauce, letting it soak for another 10 to 15 minutes on warm.
  10. Serve the pulled pork on slider buns, optionally topped with coleslaw.

Notes

  • Low and slow cooking yields the best flavor.
  • Feel free to adjust the spice levels according to your taste.
  • Coleslaw adds a nice crunch and creaminess to the sliders.
