- 1 ciabatta loaf or baguette, sliced in half lengthwise
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 4 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto
- 1 cup fresh arugula or spinach
- 1 medium tomato, sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Toast the sliced bread in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until golden and warm.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper to make the dressing.
- Layer the fresh mozzarella slices on the bottom half of the toasted bread.
- Add the prosciutto on top of the mozzarella.
- Add a handful of arugula or spinach followed by the tomato slices.
- Sprinkle fresh basil leaves over the top.
- Drizzle the dressing over the sandwich ingredients.
- Place the top half of the bread on and gently press down.
- Optionally, return the sandwich to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to warm through and slightly melt the cheese.
- Slice the sandwich into manageable pieces and serve with chips or a salad.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the sandwich with additional toppings like roasted peppers or avocado.
- For a vegetarian option, omit the prosciutto.
