Description

These Mini Apple Tarts are flaky, buttery, and incredibly simple to make, perfect for a delightful dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed if frozen
  • 1 large apple, thinly sliced (skins on)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch salt
  • Confectioners’ sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet, melt one tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until bubbly.
  3. Add the apple slices and cook for 5–7 minutes, until slightly softened but still holding their shape. Remove from the heat and let cool.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 6 rectangles. On the baking sheet, place one thin pat of the reserved butter where each tart will sit.
  5. Arrange a few apple slices on top of the butter in small clusters. Place a puff pastry rectangle on top and press the edges down with a fork to seal.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  7. Let cool for 5 minutes, then carefully invert so apples are on top. Dust with confectioners’ sugar and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider using a mix of different apple varieties.
  • These tarts can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • They pair well with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
