Description

Korean Beef Bulgogi is a savory and sweet marinated beef dish that is grilled or stir-fried, known for its rich flavors and tender texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef sirloin or ribeye
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, rice vinegar, gochujang, and black pepper. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved and the marinade is well mixed.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring each piece is coated evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, preferably a few hours or overnight.
  3. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil. Once hot, toss in the sliced onions and carrots. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until just tender but still crunchy.
  4. Add the marinated beef to the pan in a single layer. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is cooked through and caramelized.
  5. Toss in the chopped green onions and stir to combine.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds, over steamed rice or wrapped in lettuce leaves.

Notes

  • For best flavor, marinate the beef overnight.
  • Adjust the amount of gochujang to control the spice level.
  • Serve with kimchi for an authentic Korean experience.
