Description

A delicious and comforting grilled cheese burger that combines the best of both worlds: a juicy beef patty and melty cheese sandwiched between crispy, buttery bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of your favorite cheese (American, cheddar, or Swiss work great)
  • 4 slices of bread (Texas toast or thick-cut bread for that perfect grilled cheese vibe)
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • Toppings (optional): lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and divide into four equal portions, shaping them into patties.
  3. Place the patties on the hot grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip and add a slice of cheese on top of each patty.
  4. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F for medium doneness.
  5. Spread a tablespoon of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  6. Remove the burgers from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  7. Toast the buttered side of the bread in the same skillet or on the grill until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Assemble the burger by placing a patty on one slice of toasted bread, topping it with another slice of toasted bread, buttered side up.
  9. Press down gently and cook for another 2-3 minutes, then flip carefully to toast the other side.
  10. Once both sides are golden and the cheese is melty, remove from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before slicing in half.
  11. Serve with your favorite toppings on the side.

Notes

  • Do not overwork the beef mixture to keep the burgers tender.
  • Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to ensure even cooking.
  • Feel free to customize toppings based on your preference.
