Description

A cozy and traditional recipe for Grandma’s Thanksgiving Stuffing, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of stale bread (preferably French or sourdough)
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Tear the stale bread into small pieces and place it in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped celery and onion, sautéing until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle in the dried sage, thyme, salt, and black pepper, stirring to combine for an additional minute.
  4. Pour the sautéed vegetables into the bowl with the bread. Gradually add the vegetable broth while stirring until the bread is moistened but not soggy.
  5. Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy.
  6. Once done, take it out of the oven, let it cool slightly, and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider adding cooked sausage or nuts.
  • Make sure the bread is stale for the best texture.
  • This stuffing can be prepared a day in advance and baked just before serving.
