Description

German Chocolate Cookies are a rich and sweet delight, featuring a chocolate cookie base topped with a luscious coconut pecan frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  7. While the cookies are baking, combine the coconut, chopped pecans, sweetened condensed milk, butter, and vanilla in a saucepan.
  8. Cook on medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
  9. Once the cookies have cooled slightly, top each with a generous spoonful of the coconut pecan frosting.
  10. Let them cool completely, and then indulge in every bite!

Notes

  • Use room temperature butter and eggs for better mixing.
  • Ensure the cookies are cooled slightly before frosting.
