- 1 lb ground beef (lean)
- 1 cup caramelized onions (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs (Panko or regular)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp thyme (fresh or dried)

- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (for topping)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- Fresh parsley (for garnishing, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, caramelized onions, bread crumbs, milk, egg, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. If using Worcestershire sauce, add it at this stage.
- Use your hands or a spatula to mix all the ingredients thoroughly until just combined, being careful not to over-mix.
- Transfer the mixture to a lightly greased loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the meatloaf for 40 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese on top, and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve.
Notes
- For best results, use lean ground beef.
- Caramelized onions can be made in advance or purchased pre-made.
- Adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences.
