Description
A delightful dessert featuring a crispy puff pastry filled with sweet, gooey apple cinnamon filling.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced thin (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, toss together the sliced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, lemon juice, and all-purpose flour.
- Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into a rectangle, about 10×12 inches.
- Spoon the apple mixture onto the center of the pastry, leaving about an inch of space around the edges.
- Roll out the second sheet of puff pastry, cut it into a rectangle of the same size, and place it over the apple filling.
- Press the edges together to seal and crimp with a fork for decoration.
- Brush the top with the beaten egg and make a few small slits for steam to escape.
- Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, dust with powdered sugar if desired, slice, and enjoy!
Notes
- For best results, use tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
- Make sure not to overfill the pastry to avoid a messy bake.
- Allow the pastry to cool slightly before serving to enhance the flavors.
