Description

Beef Stroganoff is a creamy and comforting dish made with tender beef strips, mushrooms, and a rich sauce, typically served over egg noodles or rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, cut into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Season the beef strips with salt and pepper, then sprinkle the flour over them, tossing to coat evenly.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and add the beef in batches, searing for about 2-3 minutes until browned on all sides.
  3. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add the chopped onion to the same skillet and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened and translucent.
  5. Toss in the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking for another 5-6 minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
  6. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard, stirring and letting it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and return the beef to the skillet, stirring in the sour cream until well combined and heated through.
  8. Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the pan when searing the beef to achieve a good sear.
  • Be careful not to let the sauce boil after adding the sour cream to prevent curdling.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated gently.
