- 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar

- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)
- Burger buns or slider rolls, for serving
- Coleslaw, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts in a slow cooker.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
- Pour the mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
- Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 6 to 7 hours or high for 3 to 4 hours.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken and let it cool for a few minutes before shredding with two forks.
- Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir it back into the sauce, cooking for another 15 to 30 minutes on low.
- Serve the pulled chicken on toasted burger buns or slider rolls, topped with coleslaw if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add more cayenne pepper.
