This healthy, quick, and easy Oven-baked Chicken Parmesan requires only a few simple ingredients and takes only 30 minutes to cook! Crispy baked chicken topped with a simple marinara sauce and gooey cheese.
2 tbsp olive oil
2 chicken breasts (about 1 lb of chicken)
1 c panko bread crumbs
1/2 c parmesan cheese fresh grated
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 c marinara sauce
1 ½ c shredded mozzarella
2 tbsp minced parsley optional, for garnish
How to make Oven Baked Chicken Parmesan:
Step 1: Use a foil to line a baking sheet and grease with olive oil. Position the oven rack in the second top section of the oven. Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F.
Step 2: Divide the chicken breasts in half. Pound the pieces to even thickness. Slice the breasts like a book, starting from the middle cut it all the way to create two equal-sized pieces.
Step 3: Transfer the chicken breasts in a gallon-sized zip-top bag. Seal the bag and with a meat pounder or rolling pin, pound the chicken to even thickness. Or place the breasts instead between two layers of a cling wrap.
Step 4: With a paper towel, pat the chicken dry. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 5: Combine the panko bread crumbs, grated parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper in a shallow dish.
Step 6: And whisk an egg in a different shallow dish.
Step 7: Into the egg, dip a piece of chicken breast. Transfer into the bread crumb mixture. Evenly coat, pressing the breast gently to help the crumbs stick. On the prepared baking sheet, place the chicken breast and do the same process with the rest.
Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
Step 9: Turn the chicken on the other side. Over each chicken breasts, pour 1/4 marinara sauce, then top with cheese.
Step 10: Broil the chicken for about 2 to 4 minutes until the cheese has melted bubbly, and the edges are browning.
