CHEESESTEAK STYLE SLOPPY JOES

Prep Time: 5 mins | Cook Time: 20 mins | Total Time: 25 mins | Servings: 4 sandwiches

My friends are coming over today, and they requested my most famous cheesesteak style sloppy Joes. These sandwiches filled with flavour-packed beef, bell pepper, and onion topped with melty cheese never fail to impress everyone! This is surely to die for!

Ingredients

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 lb ground beef

4 rolls

1 green bell pepper diced

½ c. beef broth

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp cornstarch

4 slices white American or provolone cheese

1 small onion diced

¼ tsp garlic powder or 2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

How to make Cheesesteak Style Sloppy Joes

Step 1: Place the ground beef in a hot saute pan over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper and cook for about 5 minutes, breaking into pieces until no longer pink. When done, remove from the pan and set the cooked ground beef aside.

Step 2: To the same pan, add the butter and let it melt. Then, add the onion and bell pepper. Saute the veggies for approximately 4 to 5 minutes until they start to brown and the onions are clear.

Step 3: Adjust the heat to low, then add the ground beef along with the garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Scrape the bottom of the pan while everything cooks.

Step 4: Stir in the cornstarch until completely dissolved. You can add 1 to 2 tbsp water if the beef looks dry.

Step 5: Take the pan off the heat and top the meat mixture with slices of cheese. Let it sit for about a minute or two until the cheese has melted.

Step 6: When done, spoon the sloppy Joes onto rolls and enjoy right away.

Notes:

Feel free to add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the sloppy Joes for some kick. Or simply dice jalapeno and add this to the onions and bell pepper.

You can whisk the cornstarch with broth in a separate bowl until well blended before stirring it in the pan.

Add the mushrooms with the onions and bell pepper, if using.

Place any leftovers in a well-sealed container and store them in the fridge for up to 2 to 3 days.
