Nice and light, this sweet and spicy baked chicken is a must! With a simple mixture of hot sauce or chilli sauce and brown sugar or honey make the firecracker sauce along with a touch of cider vinegar and garlic. Tender and juicy chicken basted in this amazing sauce several times for that irresistible flavour. This baked firecracker chicken is best as is, but you can serve this over rice, pasta, and more! And don’t forget the extra sauce for that mouthwatering experience!


1/2 c hot/chilli sauce (such as Frank’s Red Hot or Sriracha)

1/2 c brown sugar or honey

1 tbsp soy sauce (gluten-free for gluten-free)

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

2 cloves garlic, grated

1 pinch red pepper flakes

1 tbsp oil

1 lb boneless and skinless chicken breasts

salt and pepper to taste

How to make Baked Firecracker Chicken:

Step 1: In a small saucepan, heat the hot sauce, sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and chilli pepper flakes until the sugar melted.

Step 2: In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat.

Step 3: Meanwhile, season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.

Step 4: Once the oil is hot, add the chicken into the skillet and fry for about 3 to 5 minutes on both sides or until brown.

Step 5: Place the dish into the oven and bake for about 10 to 15 minutes at 400 degrees F or 200 degrees C. Baste the chicken with sauce every 5 minutes.

Step 6: When done, serve with the rest of the sauce. Enjoy!
